Zinc selenide (ZnSe) is a direct-gap semiconductor with a bandgap width of 2.82 eV at absolute zero and 2.68 eV at room temperature. At room temperature, it is a lemon-yellow powder with the structure of wurzite or zinc hoax. The stoichiometric composition of zinc selenide corresponds to the mineral stilleite.
ZINC SELENIDE in the form of powder or pieces is used for the manufacture of alpha-, gamma- and X-ray radiation detectors, electroluminophores for X-ray tubes, scintillators, to produce ultra-light solar cells.
