Zinc telluride (ZnTe) is a reddish gray powder. After sublimation purification, it turns into ruby red crystals. Stable under standard conditions, the crystal structure of the compound is cubic, with a crystal lattice of the zinc cladding (sphalerite) type.
ZINC TELLURIDE is used in optoelectronics, also used to create blue emitting LEDs, semiconductor lasers, in solar cells and in microwave generators. In solar cells, ZnTe can be used as a sublayer together with cadmium telluride, used in semiconductor manufacturing.
