Cadmium telluride (CdTe) is a binary chemical compound of cadmium and tellurium. The compound is black in color. Straight-gap semiconductor with bandgap width of 1.49 eV at 300 K.

CADMIUM TELLURIDE is used in semiconductor manufacturing to create thin-film solar cells, CdTe is used as an infrared optical material for optical windows and lenses. CdTe is also used in electro-optical modulators.
